Canvas update

Canvas seems to be working better right now…at least for me (hopefully, for you and your students, too). The Canvas Status page indicates that: “The issue has been identified and we are working on a fix.” You can monitor that page if you want until it says that the issue has been resolved.

Canvas issues

I am getting reports from faculty about sluggishness while using Canvas. Specifically, people are noticing page errors. I’m getting them, too. When I click the same link again, it seems to go away. Anyway, I will ask Canvas about this and get back to you all.

Fall Canvas students to be inputted tomorrow

Canvas instructors:

I wanted to let you know that Fall 2021 students are scheduled to be inputted into their Canvas courses tomorrow (probably in the afternoon). If you don’t want students to access your courses until the start of classes, please keep your courses unpublished.

Turnitin update

The Turnitin issue has been resolved. It should be functioning normally now.

Turnitin issue

Turnitin is currently not operational. I am trying to contact Turnitin to get it back up. I’ll let you know when it’s ready again. Sorry for the bad timing.

Additional Canvas help

LPC faculty,

Beginning now and continuing through the fall semester, Canvas is offering faculty free one-on-one help for a 25-minute session in a program it calls Panda Pros. Operating 7 days a week, Panda Pros sessions will provide instructional design coaching, course construction guidance, quick course reviews, and answer "how to” questions with Canvas and Studio.

Get more information, and/or schedule a session at the Panda Pros page.

Regular effective contact reminder

For those teaching online and hybrid courses this summer:

In an effort to ensure that the state- and federally mandated regular effective contact regulations are being met in online and hybrid courses, the LPC Distance Education Committee has asked me to send a Mid-Semester Regular Effective Contact Checklist to you as a reference. These mandates include instructor-initiated interaction with students and fostering student-to-student interaction.

Links to more information are included at the bottom of the checklist.

If you have any questions, let me know.
