Additional Canvas help

LPC faculty,

Beginning now and continuing through the fall semester, Canvas is offering faculty free one-on-one help for a 25-minute session in a program it calls Panda Pros. Operating 7 days a week, Panda Pros sessions will provide instructional design coaching, course construction guidance, quick course reviews, and answer "how to” questions with Canvas and Studio.

Get more information, and/or schedule a session at the Panda Pros page.

Regular effective contact reminder

For those teaching online and hybrid courses this summer:

In an effort to ensure that the state- and federally mandated regular effective contact regulations are being met in online and hybrid courses, the LPC Distance Education Committee has asked me to send a Mid-Semester Regular Effective Contact Checklist to you as a reference. These mandates include instructor-initiated interaction with students and fostering student-to-student interaction.

Links to more information are included at the bottom of the checklist.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Canvas maintenance, quizzes

Hello,

I wanted to let you know that Canvas will undergo maintenance from 1:05 a.m. until 3:05 a.m. on Thursday, July 15. During this two-hour window, Canvas will be unavailable for roughly 2 minutes. The exact time of the system's unavailability is unknown. A system-wide announcement will be posted next week in Canvas.

Also, if you didn’t already know, Canvas will eventually replace its current quiz tool (known as Classic Quizzes) with a new tool creatively labeled New Quizzes. Canvas sent an email today with two links:

From what I can tell from the first link is that we have at least a year to get everyone trained on New Quizzes, and we can even make it available for early adopters in Spring 2022. Feel free to read the specifics. Keep in mind, though, that with rollouts of new tools and features, things have a way of changing. I’ll keep you all updated.
